One shot separates two stalwarts at Royal North Devon

As the red-tops would have said:

Sadly it was not a ROY-al North Devon win

for the UKSGA's super senior Roy Smethurst.

Roy was pipped at the post by Adrian Donkersley who posted a 74 on the final day to take the title by one shot.

Whatever the result, it was a pleasure to witness two such relaxed players taking on and mastering a course that was characterised by greens which were almost impossible to hit and stay on with a single shot! Bump and run or long putts were the order of the day.

Onwards and upwards to the next regional event in the West Midlands at Whittington Heath in September and in the North East at Alwoodley just a week later prior to the National Championships at Trevose in November.
