George Wilson comes out on top after two days at a demanding Hollinwell.

Initial grumblings of playing from the Yellow tees at a very green Notts GC soon disappeared as 6619yds and some  thick rough provided a good  test. The course was in the best condition we had seen for many years and Jonathon Greenough (West Lancs) playing in his first UKSGA event introduced himself with a superb 69 with 15 pars and 3 birdies.

Day 2 proved more difficult and Jonathon added an 81 to take the Bronze medal and finish in 3rd place. Taking the Silver medal was Colin Taylor ( Rothley Park) with 75+74 which also won the Nett event by 5 shots, but winning the Gold Medal and 250pts was George Wilson(Calcot Park) with excellent scores of 73+74.

Taking the honours in the S/Snrs 65+ with the best score of Day 2 was Steve Mason (Woolley Park) with 79+72 and Glyn Rees (Fleetwood ) with 84+77  pipped Basil Griffiths by one shot in the Masters event.

George Wilson has now moved into 8th place in the Order of Merit (Race to Iceland 2024) which has 6 events left with the final qualifying event at Trevose on Nov 2/3 this year, although he may well start as favourite at our next event at his home course of Calcot Park starting on Monday.
