Porthcawl has it all, fantastic course, welsh cakes, Elvis and a little rain!!!

In weather that threw all 4 seasons at all the players and where  we finally managed to move the PCC 3 on day 1 but only 2 on day 2 Phillip Sutton shot 75+78 to win the Finals event at a gloriously conditioned Royal Porthcawl GC. He won the Gold Medal and the David Frame Trophy by one shot from Mike White (West Wilts GC) who added a best of the event 72 to his opening 82 to take the Silver Medal. This held off Gareth Bradley (Bramhall GC) 78+76 who took the Bronze on the back 18. In the S/Snrs Steve Mason (Wakefield GC) won the Brian Evans Trophy with 80+75 but it was not quite enough to pip Phil Bramall (Chart Hills GC) for the Golfer of the Year finishing 10pts short of Phils total of 1195. A worthy winner but Stephen was a comfortable winner in the S/Snrs Golfer of the Year finishing clear with 1490pts over the season. In the Masters division Hugh Purvis (Long Ashton GC) was in great form registering one of only 3 scores to break 80 on day 1 and going on to win the Peter Belsham Trophy on the day with 79+81, the nett prize overall at Porthcawl  and the Hcp OOM salver in the Masters Division over the course of the year. John Yuill (Links GC) remained on top of the Masters Scr OOMerit and Nigel Evans (St Mellons GC) won both the Association and S/Snrs hcp OOMerits.

Congratulations to all winners and supporters over the year. The new Player of the season starts at West Hill finishing at Saunton next September while we look forward to the dynamic rankings helping to pick the teams for the Spanish Match in February, followed by ESGA events in Italy and France respectively, Internationals against the Scottish Over 65s at Fulford in September, the match against the Midland County Champions and friendlies against Sweden at home and Norway away, you know what permitted.

Best Wishes to all.
