Northern Domination at Delightful Delamere Forest
Stephen Mason (Wakefield GC) with 70+70 wins his first Gold Medal, pushing G Bradley (Bramhall GC) 67+76 into 2nd, with Philip Sutton (Dunstable Downs GC) taking 3rd 73+71. Mark Kingsley (Bramhall GC) 71+77 was 4th and with a great performance from Robert Mottershead 6 hcp from(Tadmarton Heath GC) who finished 5th in the Scratch event with 75+74 but was still pipped on countback in the nett event by Mark Hyam (Boyce Hill) with nett 72+65. (Surprisingly the PCC remained unaffected ,almost as if it did`nt work!
Stephen Mason got full points also in the S/Snrs with John Yuill in 2nd 76+74 and Bob Head 3rd with 79+73 and in the Masters John Yuill was 1st with Glyn Rees in 2nd place.
Our first visit to Delamere Forest was a great success and our thanks go especially to Russell Wardle and Captain Bob Lightowler who acted as starters on both days and then presented the prizes, and how we escaped without anything more than just an occasional heavy shower, I am not sure. We are a fortunate bunch.
