Mark Gershinson storms through to win at Frilford Heath

As the longest day approaches and the summer is nowhere to be seen the UKSGA descended on the Blue course at Frilford Heath. In spite of torrential rain on the practice day and plenty more on both event days, the course was a delight with the putting surfaces being the best we had come across this year. Day one was a battle to survive but on Day 2 with less wind and rain many players celebrated led by Graham Tansley having a hole in one at the 6th,and Michael Lawson adding a nett 68 to his earlier nett 74 to win the handicap prize with 142. Bob Head won the Super Seniors Gross with 81+74 and Roy Smethurst claimed the Masters divison with 84+79. In the Association event 6 players finished on 152 but taking the Bronze medal one shot ahead was David Price adding 78 to the best of the 1st day 73, just being beaten by Doug Cameron who shot 76+73, but winning his first UKSGA event with 78+69 was Mark Gershinson from Hartsborne CC.
