Malcolm Cawte takes Gold at Aldeburgh in the 2nd UKSGA Regional Championship

Over two days on the ever green and dry Aldeburgh course in Suffolk, the UKSGA's second regional competition of the year ended with a win for Malcolm Cawte (Selsey GC) by 3 clear shots from Steve Duffety (Flempton GC) and Simon Dymoke (The Wiltshire GC).

Getting under the wind was the order of both days as was: stopping the ball on the greens with the wind behind and front pins and reaching the green into headwinds with back pins. A true test of golf said Secretary David Wybar and so it was !

New boy Nigel Fosker (Felixstow Ferry GC) took the seniors age category prize; Peter Adams (Redditch GC) took the Super Seniors prize and Terry Norman, back from 'heart procedures', took the Masters (70+ yrs) prize by some 7 shots from his nearest rival.

Jim Chambers (Beau Desert GC) took the handicap prize and Nigel Philips (East Sussex National) shot his 5th hole-in-one on the 17th. Fortunately his caddie (aka wife), had pocketed the successful ball, as he promptly lost his ball on the 18th and final hole. It still cost him dearly in the clubhouse afterwards nonetheless.
