On a fast running Hollinwell course with tricky greens and a strong wind on Day 1 one of our biggest fields set off to master the course 3 weeks after final qualifying for the open had been played there. Les Bruckner (Hindhead) 75+69 took Gold from John Coupe(Canterbury) 76+72 who finished one shot clear of Jonathon Perry(Luffenham)74+75 who pipped Mike White(West Wilts)73+76 to the Bronze OCB. In a very close S/Snrs event 3 stalwarts of the association finished on 153 with Keith Morris(CamberleyHeath) 79+74 beating Jimmy Johnston (Northumberland)77+76 and Nigel Evans(St Mellons) 75+78. In the Masters Neil Hughes(Gog Magog) led the way with 81+79 and with probably the round of the event Jeff Robinson(Hadley Wood) nett78+64 won the handicap prize with a second round score of 72-8=64 including a 1 at the 9th. Also delighted was Alistair Booth (Frilford) who had a 1 at 13th on day 1 ( other combinations of 1 are available).
Needless to say the PCC did not move
Many thanks to all at Notts GC and we look forward to returning next year
