Bramall makes it two in a row at Coxmoor

In blistering heat on day 1 and a stiff cool breeze on day 2, the stage was set in the lead up to the England Senior Mens Open Championships in June and the European Seniors Team Championships in August. Four of the UKSGA scratch team were in the top five positions at Coxmoor in a closely fought 36 hole event producing a CSS of 73 and 74 on each day. The Coxmoor course was presented in perfect condition and 110+ competitors played till dusk on day 1 with any of the top 9 players capable of taking the title going into day 2. An early injury to co-leader and UKSGA rookie Paul Nancarrow, left Keiths Elvin and Davies as a lonely 2-ball at the back of the field on a cold and breezy final day with the medals finally going with late runs to Bramall (6th on day 1), Bruckner (10th on day 1) amd Partridge (15th on day 1).

The handicap prize, with an incredible net 66 on day 1 and net 73 on day 2, went to the Captain of the UKSGA Handicap Team going to the European Masters Cup in Portugal next month, Nigel Franklin (Buckingham GC).
