Brilliant Bruckner bags Gold at Ingrebourne Links in Essex

The Clubhouse at Ingrebourne Links

It was our first ever visit to the relative new course at Ingrebourne LInks in Essex for our 4th meeting of 2024. A warm, friendly and helpful greeting was received from Dom and his team at the links-style track..

Day one brought a cloudy day with cooler temperatures than the weekend with a light breeze that needed a little consideration off the tee. Local man Paul Wilkinson (Chelmsford) hit the front from the early starters with a 1 over 73 which included 3 birdies. MIke Ready and Martin France both posted 3 over 75's to move within 2 shots as the breeze picked up in the afternoon. David Pain (Langley Park) was to follow suit. A large group followed on 4 over 76 putting plenty of people in with a chance to take the win.

The forecast for day two was heavy rain overnight and into the morning. On arrival it was lighter than expected and with very little breeze the chasing pack had an excellent chance of catching overnight leader Paul Wilkinson.

In the penultimate group Ian Attoe (Worplesdon)  was joined by Martin France (Lymm) and Mike Ready (The Melbourne).

Early round 2 scores were showing improvement and Mark Stokes (Studley Wood) posted a 73 to move up the leaderboard. Keith Morris (Camberley Heath) and Jeffrey Bearman (Orsett) then became the first to shoot level par 72 to also gain ground on the leaders.

At the end of day two our winner in the main event, picking up 250 Order of Merit points and the Gold Medal was Les Bruckner with 75 & 72 - 147 and National Secretary John Hemphrey was on hand to present the prizes.
