JON COOPER FROM WILDERNESSE GC wins his first event at WILMSLOW

And onto another first for the UKSGA and a wonderful welcome from Wilmslow GC just south of Manchester and the weather was stunning!

With the Club Vice Captain starting us off many had their umbrellas up to act as parasols but previous wet weather had made the rough especially punishing which led to 6 NRs over the 2 days; we had only 1 at Calcot Park and 2 at Notts, a sign of the tenacity of our players and a necessity to enjoy a leisurely breakfast.

So onto those who avoided the thick stuff and taking his first Gold Medal was Jonathon Cooper (Wildernesse GC) leading from the off with 72+69 to win by 5 from another newcomer to the Podium in Mark Illsley (Willesley Park GC) 75+71 with Phil Bramall (Chart Hills GC) who knows his way around a podium taking Bronze with 73+75

In the S/Snrs Ashley Brewer (Denham GC) continuing his return to fitness took the Chrystal and 250pts with 78+77and in the Masters John Yuill (The Links) 75+80 claimed the rewards.

So as we head south to Hankley Common and our "Finals Day" we thank everyone at Wilmslow GC especially Stephen Greenough, Jack Dunlop, Simon, Sam, Sue and Karen and Ged and the members who were out there divoting before most of us had had breakfast. Thank you.

Please look out for the update on the Order of Merits as there is now only 4 events left before the Teams are selected for the ESGA Championships next year in Poland and Iceland depending on the age categories.
